Contingency Measures: Advice on How to handle This Pandemic Crisis

A great concept exists in the world that states “I wisdom dwell with prudence and finds out knowledge of witty inventions ~ Proverbs 8:12. And one thing I know about life is that necessity is the mother of all invention. If you somehow, want to overcome your marketplace challenges due to this COVID pandemic you will inevitably have to invent a way to operate in your marketplace. Ask yourself a few questions about your business. Does my product or service meet a growing demand in my industry?

You have just entered the season of self-reflection. While the world’s global operations have come to a screeching halt you might find yourself looking for iron clad answers and solutions concerning the progression of your business operations. One of the first pieces of advice I offered my clients was to think about a scenario where they are opening a new business in the Christmas season. What is one of the first things you have to think about before you even begin moving forward with your idea?

You guessed it the plan. Now, you are thinking about what am I going to sell? Christmas lights? Ornaments? Decorations? Food? Toys? Now, its all about market demand and in the case of your current business model not your product is it still in demand in your marketplace. Has the consumer preference shifted? Are you still trying sell crab legs when Tuna is the hot item? The point is that you must assess the demand for what the marketplace deems valuable in the long-term.

The COVID has put stress on consumer demand. So, if you market is becoming obsolete either create a new market or pivot and innovatively offer specialized products that rare and sell at a higher price point. Again, there are thousands of books in the marketplace including amazon that can get you industry specific details as I more or less speak to the psychology of marketplace reasoning.

Seek Out a Busines Mentor that functions as a Business Psychologist: At this critical junction in your business you need mental clarity, and therapeutic reasoning in order to process what truly going in the world and in your world. For those who can afford it seeking coach or counselor may help in gaining objectivity for the journey that lies ahead.   

Write a Book: I am not sure if you ever thought about writing a book but now is your time. I can be a 3-page book if that helps to eliminate the excuses around, we as humans convincing ourselves that we are not creators of our own stories. For some it will be about getting their story out into the world and for others therapy. It’ all about being able to diversify your sensibilities.

Drink some Essentia Water: If you have never heard of this brand look them up. More I am referring to Technology being the new water in this global pandemic. Find the means and ways of exploiting new technological advances for your business. Take some new courses if you have the means to. Coursera, LinkedIn Learning and offers some great free courses. Udemy is still worth its weight in gold. Think global and find some water to drink and invest in.

Diversify your Life Portfolio: Take on a few new practices. Walk everyday if you have the capacity to do so. Step out on faith and buy an affordable exercise bike. I am not talking about a Peloton Bike which will take you 60-90 days to get due to shipping delays. Write a Letter to Ugunda’s president and tell him thanks for being who he is. Visit and help 5 people in their business. Find the ways and means for bringing all the pieces together. Tap into your most richest resources and level the playing field.
